Earth: state of affairs

The future is going to be really, really good! That is because I believe that there is one God who is the greatest living being in the universe. He sees everything, can do everything, can be everywhere. There is no living being, greater then He is. Furthermore, this God says He embodies love! He is love! Many times he has said about Himself, “I am merciful, full of unfailing love, compassionate and slow to get angry”.

Besides good we know evil. I believe as human we can distinguish these two things very well, even though lots of us do not acknowledge the concept of good and evil. God is good and Satan is evil. Because we disobey God, as a human species, we now live in a broken world where evil is very much present. We know it just as good, or perhaps even better then we know 'the good'. Through media, like movies, TV-shows and the news we've gotten a pretty good picture of what 'evil' looks like.

Anyhow, this good God has a plan. Even though evil came into existence and even though the human species chose to rebel against God, God Himself has never been challenged from His position, for He cannot be challenged, for He is the greatest. Evil came into the world, but has never jeopardized Gods position in the universe. Of course evil did pose a threat since Satan is trying to drawn Angels and humans to take position against God.

God could have easily get rid of the opposition, however he decided not to do so, because He is full of unfailing love. He wants the beings who participate in the rebellion to reconcile to Him. He wants to give them a second, third and seventy times seventy chances to lay down their lives, and re-submit to their creator.

This is what this life is all about – a second chance. We came into the world as sinners, rebels. In this life we ought to get to know the good and the evil and God is urging us to come to Him. It might seem that this life is all there is and ever going to be. However, according to the Christian bible, that is not the case.

We only know so little about 'heaven' and 'eternal life' with God. It is not really important actually. Important is whether you love life or you hate it. Do you think the world works just fine, or do you think it really misses something very fundamental?

Some people believe in God and think that after He created the universe, he took off, and let it run all by itself, without any intervention. I think they are wrong. If God is love then He is certainly here. We all know what it is like to love someone close to you. If God would have taken off, there would be an absence of love, and that would have probably, rather quickly, lead to the extinction of the human species.

If God really exists, than that would have huge implications on all humans ever lived. We know what is right and wrong and we know that we are all guilty of sin. If this 'good God' really exists, then I am doomed! That is why God has sent his only Son to free us from that sin. Because God hates sin, but not the sinner. He came to heal the sick, aka sinners.

All sin is rooted in the desire to be like God. We are born with the natural tendency to have the desire to be on the top of the world. We want to be known, be the greatest and we want to be loved by all. Now, the desire to wanting to be the greatest has brought all of us in big trouble. We wanted more then just love. We could no longer accept being an inferior subject to God. We wanted to be God.

Now God never saw us as an inferior subject. Throughout the bible and finally Jesus He has tried to get this misunderstanding straight. He has called us children and Jesus even said we are His friends! The apostle Paul referred himself as slave for Christ. Slave, as being the lowest form of a human being. I think he did that to show how committed and dedicated he is to Jesus Christ. However, I don't think Jesus has ever regarded Paul as a slave. Because Paul was for God, God certainly referred to him as a friend.

So I guess these are the state of affairs: God is the greatest. Humans who carry out the will, or the way of God, are His children, or even friends. We are Gods creations and we will never be as great as He is. For those who think that is OK, there is the way through Jesus to reconcile with God. And for those who cannot accept to be lesser than God, there is hell, a place where is only evil, and no God, no love.
